Goodbye 2011, It's been a great year!

Dear Family,

I have decided to begin writing a blog just for you all to keep up with my travels as the next year and a half will be a whirlwind! For the first time ever I did something that I really wanted to do: I left the country! I spent the first 5 days of my Christmas break in Guatemala with a group of complete strangers, although my brothers and sisters in Christ. It was the most amazing experience of my life and I want to spend the rest of my days that God has given me glorifying Him and going on missions. Whether you are a believer or not, I pray that this blog will inspire you to seek the Christian God, to pursue what you love, and most of all not to let what anyone thinks hold you back.

"Make your choice, adventurous stranger.
Strike the bell and bide the danger.
Or wonder 'til it drives you mad,
What would have followed, if you had."
-The Magician's Nephew, C.S. Lewis

2011 was a year full of blessings! Some that I saw right away and some that I ignored until they confronted me like the plague. I had a serious boyfriend and then I became a single woman, I spent a fabulous summer working at a Baptist youth camp, I prayed and prayed about being a Proverbs 31 woman coming to the realization that maybe I'm just a Matthew 19:9-12 woman, it was the one year anniversary of Michael's death, I started a grueling fall semester at my beloved Oklahoma State, I found real friends, I lost old ones, I drew close to God and I lost my way for a time, I decided to go to Guatemala, and then I went. I grew up this year and maybe as my family you'll read this, but maybe you won't. In case you ever wonder, it will always be here...just in case.

I hope to update once a month with what is happening in my life and what I plan to experience next in life and all at the same time I want to try and not plan too far ahead. But, God willing or 'Inshallah', I will be blessed to see another year of life and spend it abroad studying in France and marveling at God's creation.

Above all: have faith.
Look around and see all that God has created for you so that you may bring blessings to His Kingdom. I find so much peace knowing that I have no control over my life, but that there is One greater who orchestrates my every move and loves me regardless of what I have done. It is not about me, but Him.

Blessings and love,

Kortnee
